So, I’ve been horsing around with horse themes all week because I haven’t been as healthy as a horse lately. This is due to the fact that I barely rest these days just so I can be more productive. I’m managing 5 sites, 6 if you count this one to maximize my earning potential while still holding down a 9-6AM job as a local search engine optimization specialist.
Yeah so for the past few years I’ve transitioned from being a copywriter to a full-fledged search engine optimization specialist. I guess it was a logical transition since what I really wanted was to maximize the reach of all the articles I made for my clients.
My trajectory so far has been copywriter to SEO writer to on-page SEO specialist and then off-page SEO specialist. And then I enrolled in a class for Technical SEO and eventually landed a job as a local SEO specialist.
While focusing on my new role as an SEO specialist, I kind of slacked off from writing.
A recent turn of events that gave me back my ability to earn through Google rekindled that fire to generate content that reaches a massive audience. And thanks to the trainings I received as an SEO Specialist, I guess all those years of studying are finally paying off.
No Time for Horsing Around When You Have a Busy Week
My week is focused on working from Monday to Friday from 9PM to 6AM, doing household chores, making sure my son eats, takes a bath and goes to school, and then write at least 1000 words per day for one of the sites I manage per day.
I have no time for horsing around or thinking of horse themes but somehow I still manage to do some light horse play with my son. Not as much time as I would like though because I’m finding it harder to resist resting these days.
I guess your priorities change when you become a father. But then again, I never really liked being idle.
Weekends are usually reserved for more writing and more household chores like throwing the garbage, doing the laundry, and cleaning parts of the house.
With all that, how are the sites performing?
Monday – Canomed Corporation
I had written about the establishment of three new king cobra species in the Hayop Etc site during the previous week and I wanted to continue that message but through another site.
Obviously, I couldn’t just write about cobras again in the Canomed Corp site so I decided to write about antivenom.
You get antivenom when weakened venom is injected into a horse so it can develop antibodies to counter it. So, there’s your horse theme right there.
That article took me a little over 30 minutes to create because using all those different angles (the idea of creating horse-themed ideas for the entire week, continuing the message about cobras, and trying to make it all make sense by using the antivenom idea) made it a fun experience for me.
Tuesday – Filipino Writers
Coming off of that high from finishing an article so quick, I quickly fired up another one and thought of how to use a horse theme for my article in Filipino Writers.
I had just finished reading the book “Horse” by Geraldine Brooks. It’s a good read. And if you’re into historical novels that are loosely based on real events, I suggest you go buy it.
While searching for more information about her, I stumbled upon Geraldine Woods and found out that she was the author of one of my favorite books, what’s the book you ask? Well, it’s the English Grammar for Dummies book by Geraldine Woods.
So it started off with a book titled “Horse” and eventually landed on a dummies book all because the authors shared the same first name.
This took me longer to finish as I had expended most of my creative energy writing my article for Canomed Corp. I just created a framework of what I was going to write about and then took a short nap.
I woke up refreshed after 30 minutes and wrote the article 8 Parts of Speech based on what I read in Geraldine Woods’ book. Yeah, the dummy book author. Not the Pulitzer Prize winner who wrote about a horse.
And then I called it a day.
Wednesday – Musika Wabad (What Started the Horsing Around with Horse-themed Articles Idea)
I had promised to write something about the band QUORA in support of their bid to win the Red Horse Muziklaban semi-finals (Aklas category) in CDO. Even though I hadn’t written the article yet, it was this article that started the idea of horsing around with horse-themed articles for the entire week.
The article I was supposed to write for them was supposed to be a double feature for the previous week with the Project Satellite article. Sadly, I didn’t have as much information or an angle to write about them then. I was fresh out of ideas until the idea of horse-themed articles came to mind.
It then set me off on creating a list that would be part of the plan for the entire week for all the sites I managed.
Thursday – Hayop Etc (Horsing Around with the Idea of Getting a Pet Horse)
What could be more obvious than writing about horses for the Hayop Etc weekly article? Sadly we don’t have a Wikipedia page for the Philippine Native horse. I wonder if anyone wants to do a collaboration on writing that one.
Anyway, I had to go to some groups, talk to individuals who owned horses and think of my own experience to come up with the Philippine Native horse article.
It’s pretty light and mostly focuses on data I’ve collected from Filipino horse experts. I hope you’ll still enjoy it.
Friday – Biyernes
I finally came around to creating another article for Power Gates Davao on the Biyernes page. Truth is, I’ve been struggling with the site due to a lack of clear direction.
That is until the decision was made to make it more about house repairs and things you can do.
Because homeownership is a very serious topic, I decided that from now on I’d be posting useful things on the site. The first thing that came to mind was automated gate maintenance.
I mean everyone needs to know how to maintain their gates right?
After all, an automated gate is a sizeable investment and you wouldn’t want it to malfunction before or after the warranty is up. Ideally, you’d want it to last forever. So here are steps you can take to make sure your gate from Power Gates Davao keeps doing what it’s supposed to for a long, long, long time.
No Horsing Around on Saturday
My Saturdays are usually reserved for doing household chores but because I was feeling down under the weather, I decided to take a break. After delivering the garbage to the community garbage collection place, I came home, washed up and tried to get some sleep.
I had already washed the dishes and cooked some rice so I had at least 2 hours to sleep before Lyle woke up and demanded food.
I didn’t get much done yesterday except come up with a content plan for next week.
Sunday
Washed a blanket and some clothes. Cooked. Did some light cleaning around the house. Took care of Lyle and gave him a bath.
Tried to do the 60 per day challenge. Managed to do 50 push ups, 40 squats, and 30 lunges. I haven’t done the plank yet and I intend to complete the numbers before midnight.
Can’t wait for Monday to come to start the exercise and work routine again.
That’s it for today folks.
And if you believe your life is going nowhere, quit horsing around and focus on doing something. It doesn’t have to be a grand thing. Something simple and sustainable is a good start. Keep doing it until it becomes a hard habit to break. Things will eventually pay off in the end.
