(Do not go beyond this point because I might spoil it for you)

After all the hype that the Avengers: Age of Ultron has created I’m sad to say it wasn’t what I expected.
That’s my opinion.
Sure there were moments when total fan boys would go “Whoa!” and it wasn’t that bad.
Wait let me rephrase that, it wasn’t a bad movie.
It just lacked some things and as a total Marvel geek, I didn’t agree with how some of the characters were portrayed.
Ultron for one, was a total let down. I guess I expected too much that he’d at least stay true to how he is portrayed in the comics a cold, calculating sentient machine capable of committing genocide. I guess I was taken aback that he was acting like a teenager cracking one liners and acting awkwardly sometimes. He still was a cold, calculating sentient machine capable of committing genocide though I guess I just didn’t expect him to act like Michelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles….
Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch) – why is it that powerful characters who can alter reality have to act as if they’re dancing and pulling spells off from parts of their body? She was basically acting like a dancer hurling glow sticks. She did redeem herself in the end when in a moment of anguish she released her true powers of utter destruction. Now if she’d done that at the start no one would’ve died.
Pietro Maximoff (Quicksilver) – ever since I collected X-Factor comics, Pietro has been my favorite character. That’s mainly because I loved how brash he is and the fact that he could take out an entire army by himself. Pietro in this movie was… blah and did they really have to do that to him at the end of the movie? Grrrrr!!!
Enough griping!
Those are little things that I’m just complaining about.
Now, about Captain America, Thor and Iron Man: These three have really become well fleshed out characters. I can’t imagine any actor taking up the roles Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr will most probably leave behind.
From the way this movie ended I think these actors’ contracts have ended and they either don’t want to renew it or are afraid they’ll forever be branded as these characters and won’t be abe to take on other roles because people will always see them as these heroes.
Of the three, I think Chris Hemsworth is the one most in trouble because I haven’t seen him in oter films aside from the Thor series.
Hulk was portrayed very well and although I don’t totally agree with the blossoming romance between him and Black Widow, it did make him seem more human. You see the Banner I know is a weakling and would never have attracted Black Widow.
They’ve somehow melded the Earth 616 Hawkeye with the Ultimates Hawkeye which kinda made it confusing. It would’ve been more believable if Hawkeye and Black Widow were in a relationship (as they’ve done in the comics) but they instead made him a family man and just best friends with Natasha.
Seeing Don Cheadle in this Avengers film was also great cause he’s a damn good actor and he had really good scenes. Probably the parts where I laughed the most.
It was also great to see Falcon as I believe he is an integral part of the Avengers.
Seeing Nick Fury in this film was also a welcome if not an expected surprise.
Lastly, great portrayal of Vision by Paul Bettany. Damn. Excellent. I would’ve stood up and clapped my hands but I didn’t want to be rude to the other movie goers.
So there…. it was a good movie but not as mind blowing as I expected it to be after waiting for such a damn long time. Sophomore slump?
PS… Stan Lee also shows up and he is as funny as usual if only for a few seconds.
Watch the trailer at the end for more good things to come and I hope it’ll be a better film!
